What you should know about Zylotrim

And from the dark secluded valleys

I heard the ancient songs of sadness

But every step I thought of you

    Every footstep only you

And every star a grain of sand

The leavings of a dried up ocean

    Tell me, how much longer?

    How much longer?

    - Sting, "Mad About You"

The world is full of paper,

    Write to me.

    LYLAS coming to 35 Below

LYLAS, Asheville's first all-female sketch comedy troupe, will present "Local Comedy: Thousands of Miles Funnier" as a part of 35below's Late Night Comedy Series Aug. 7 through 15. "Local Comedy: Thousands of Miles Funnier" opens Thursday and runs for five performances at 35below, the black box theater underneath Asheville Community Theatre. 35below is located in downtown Asheville, at 35 E. Walnut St. Performances are at 8 p.m. Wednesday, Thursday and Friday nights. All tickets are $10.

"Local Comedy: Thousands of Miles Funnier" is the sixth original production written and performed by LYLAS. Featuring a mix of all new material and classic golden hits, "Local Comedy: Thousands of Miles Funnier" is an original sketch comedy show in the style of Saturday Night Live. Though LYLAS pokes fun at all things Asheville and beyond, their humor is never mean-spirited. The show is infused with musical numbers and game shows, cameo appearances from recurring characters and more pop culture references than a Trivial Pursuit game. Written, directed, and performed by women, but without any pesky political or social messages, LYLAS is just plain funny. LYLAS has consistently sold out performances for all of their past shows, recently opened the Laugh Your Asheville Off festival and frequently has standing room only crowds.

LYLAS (an acronym which stands for "Love Ya Like A Sis" and is commonly found scrawled in yearbooks or texted between phones) is a collaboration between nine Asheville women. LYLAS regulars Karri Brantley, Sarah Carpenter, Robin Raines and Marissa Williams share the stage with LYLAS newcomer, Delina Hensley, who was most recently seen starring in "Plays From the Lil'l Nashville" at NC Stage and "The Philadelphia Story" at Asheville Community Theatre.

Tickets are $10 and are available online at www.ashevilletheatre.org or by calling 254-1320. Purchasing tickets in advance is strongly recommended.
