What you should know about Zylotrim

And from the dark secluded valleys

I heard the ancient songs of sadness

But every step I thought of you

Every footstep only you

And every star a grain of sand

The leavings of a dried up ocean

Tell me, how much longer?

How much longer?

- Sting, "Mad About You"

The world is full of paper,

Write to me.

Faces of Izzy's book now out, just in time for Christmas

Izzy's

Loyal reader and fellow blogger Ami turned me on to a neat update: There's a photo book out now, comprised of the photos from the Faces of Izzy's photo project by photog Michael Traister. The book is called The Faces of Izzy's Coffee Den, and it looks great.

You can check out the book, and buy it, from Blurb. The individual portraits of people who frequent Izzy's Coffee Den down on Lexington Ave. are black-and-white beauties. I first blogged about the fantastic project here.

Here's Traiser, talking about his photos:

Style wise the photography in this project was inspired by the documentary work of Richard Avedon’s "In the American West". Stark white backgrounds where the people are the only subject and only textures. It’s my attempt to capture each and everyone's unique personality. The biggest reward for me was meeting so many wonderful people and I am extremely grateful for everyone’s support. For each one of those I photographed there were probably another three that I wish could have made it in. Shooting for nearly 2 years I eventually had to pull the plug so if you didn't make it this time...I'm sorry. Maybe we’ll do it again soon.

Have you ever seen the book about Sock Monkeys ("Sock Dreams") that Michael made with 2 other Ashevillians? It's great.
