Your Environmental Road Trip making a stop in Ashvegas
Wednesday, January 16, 2008 The bloggers over at Tiny Green House say that the crew from Your Environmental Road Trip are headed to Ashvegas. They look like fun. Help them out. Here are the dets:
WHEN in Asheville? March 6-13 2008 (specific dates to be announced).
WHAT will we do?
Asheville! We want your input! Tell us about your BEST and WEIRDEST and most “environmentally sustainable” people, places, buildings, groups, stores, juggling acts, etc. ANYTHING that is environmentally sustainable and uniquely Asheville is what we want to hear about!
IDEAS so far (unconfirmed): A tour of Earthaven, Westwood Co-housing and/or Ashevillage Institute, a tour of other “permaculture systems/homes or farms” in the greater Asheville area, a pot luck at Pearson Gardens, Organic Growers School and maybe an official nod from the city of Asheville for “YERT!” day in Asheville!
Location? All over the greater Asheville area.
Please send all ideas to Isabel Crabtree at tinygreenhouse@gmail.com. More info to follow as it develops!
Who is YERT?
YERT! Is Mark Dixon, Ben Evans and Julie Dingman Evans. Three energetic, optimistic and down-right fun environmentally conscious folks who are taking a “year-long eco-expedition through all 50 United States."
From their mission statement: “With video camera in hand and tongue in cheek, we're exploring the landscape of America's unique approach to environmental sustainability. We believe that Americans want to do the right thing - they just don't want to look strange doing it, and they don't have the time or the means to explore all the options. That's where the YERT team comes in. Follow us each week as we shamelessly bathe ourselves in the best (and weirdest) of America's ecological progress with a mix of outrageous antics, provocative examples, and thoughtful reporting.”
You can visit their website at yert.com and be sure to check out their videos, of all of the places they have visited so far. It is cool to know there are so many eco-inspired people in the U.S.
